LOUISIANA DONATES MORE THAN 12,000 POUNDS OF RICE TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS

Grainnet is reporting that the state of Louisiana has donatyed more than 12,000 pounds of rice to local food banks in honor of the national and Louisiana state celebrations of National Rice Month.

Because of the recent hurricanes and tropical storms that hit this area of the United States, there has been an increased demand of food in the area and these donations of grain by Louisiana will certainly help a lot in helping to feed the hungry:

“In light of the recent hurricanes, this year’s donation comes when food banks are in desperate need of food, and we feel there is no better way to celebrate National Rice Month and Hunger Action Month than to offer our assistance,” said USA Rice Federation Chairman Jamie Warshaw, a Louisiana rice miller.

Many thanks to the state of Louisiana, the rice farmers and Governor Bobby Jindal for making such a great contribution to their local food banks!
